Curtains
Beautiful curtains have the ability to completely change the feel of a room. With the wealth of glorious fabrics on the market, choosing your own curtains material is a hard but enjoyable task. The great thing about making curtains is that the fabric doesn't have to be vastly expensive to make good looking curtains. With interlining and a smart heading style you can create a luxurious effect without breaking the bank (thus leaving more for the accessories). All our curtains are hand made.
However if you have an unlimited fabric budget (sigh....) then there are collections of stunning fabrics out there. Some of our favourites are Vanessa Arbuthnott, Susie Watson, Clarke and Clarke, Ian Mankin, Sarah Hardaker, Cabbages and Roses and Kate Foreman to name but a few.

Headings
At Tulip and Teal we sew a range of curtain headings.
For our pencil pleat headings, high quality header tape is used to create lots of narrow pleats. This header type has the advantage of creating a semi adjustable width to accommodate potential house moves.
Our favourite is the pinch pleat heading, sometimes known as French pleats. Hand sewn, with or without buckram, triple or double pleat curtains hang in beautiful folds creating understated elegance.

Linings
We offer lined, interlined and blackout lined options. Interlined curtains offer good protection from draughts and look thick and luxurious, good for sitting rooms and bedrooms. The combination of interlining and blackout lining is the ultimate option for ensuring a better nights sleep. It is also highly recommended for keeping those minature early risers in bed for the precious last couple of hours!
For light summery rooms, simple plain lining will be just right. Blinds and curtains for kitchens and bathrooms require a shrink proof lining and the fabric will be steam pressed (if linen or cotton) to avoid shrinkage.
The lining we use has a Solprufe finish giving UV protection with a crisp "full handle" feel. This lining looks good, feels good and drapes beautifully. The standard lining is ivory but is also available in other colours to compliment the fabric.
